Pre-waxing care
1- Take a shower! Clean your skin of grease, dust and bacteria. This will prevent infections, make it easier for the hair to come out and make you feel more comfortable during the process, as well as saving your technician from any unpleasant body odors.
2- Take an aspirin or ibuprofen 30 to 45 minutes before waxing. This is especially useful for waxing the chest, face or genital area.
3- Smoking, drinking coffee or alcohol increases the acid levels in the body. Taking an antacid 20 minutes before waxing helps to reduce skin sensitivity. Make an effort and do not drink too much alcohol or coffee in the 2 hours before waxing. On the contrary, you can and should drink plenty of water, as it helps to hydrate the skin.
4- Exfoliate regularly! A light exfoliant helps to eliminate dead cells around the pores and follicles, facilitating hair growth and preventing hair from growing inwards (the famous ingrown hair).
5- Do not apply toners or astringents to your skin before waxing, as they close your pores and make it harder for the hair to come out. And of course, do not apply creams or oils to the areas you are going to wax.
6- Don't tense up! Take a deep breath and relax. A relaxed person can handle the discomfort of waxing much better.
7- Don’t be shy and ask us any questions you may have. We will be happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.
8- Do not go to the beach on the day you are going to wax. Waxing cannot be performed on sunburned skin that is in the process of regeneration.
Post-waxing care
1- Immediately after waxing, you should apply a moisturizing and/or antiseptic gel or cream (this procedure is normally carried out by your technician).
2- Don't overdo it with touching! Of course we love the feel of soft, hairless skin, but right after waxing, the skin is much more susceptible to infections.
Control yourself and wait a few hours to see how your skin has become much softer and more “sensitive”.
3- Wait at least a day before starting to exfoliate again (unless your skin is still very irritated or red – in which case, wait another day or two). Wash the waxed area gently. Do not use exfoliants immediately after waxing.
4- If you wax your legs, do not get a pedicure.
5- In the following 24 hours you should avoid: sun, tanning beds, public swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzis. If you have had intimate waxing, you should not have sex for a day and after going to the bathroom, wash your anus with soap and water.
6- After waxing, do not do intense physical exercise. Any “activity” that makes us sweat a lot should be avoided.
7- For the next 2 days, do not wear very tight clothing in the areas where you waxed. Always keep the affected area of your body covered with cotton clothing to prevent it from getting dirty or collecting dust.
8- Do not pop pimples: this can cause serious infections.
9- In the following days, apply a good moisturizing cream/gel or, if you have sensitive skin, a cream/gel containing calendula or aloe vera , as this helps to reduce skin irritation and inflammation. Using a healing cream with an antiseptic can also be a good option, especially if you have itching, irritation or redness.
10- If you notice any abnormal changes in your skin, contact us immediately or consult your doctor or pharmacist.
