Waxing

Hair removal
Removal of the part of the hair that is above the surface of the skin. The most common form of hair removal is shaving with a razor, scissors or depilatory cream.
Epilation
Removal of the entire head of hair, including the part below the surface of the skin. Epilation methods include waxing, sugaring, threading, hair pulling, laser, pulsed light and electrolysis.
Waxing is a temporary form of body hair removal.
Removal is done from the root and new hair does not grow back in the waxed area for about 2 weeks.
Virtually any part of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini line, legs, arms, back, abdomen, buttocks, intimate area and feet.
There are many types of waxes adapted to different areas of the body and different types of skin and hair.
Strip waxing is done by applying a thin layer of wax (using a roll-on) to the skin and hair. Then, a strip of compressed cotton or paper is applied and pulled in the opposite direction of hair growth. This procedure removes both the hair and the wax.
Hot waxing is done by applying a layer of wax to the skin and hair with a wooden spatula. Allow it to cool slightly and then pull it off, always in the opposite direction of hair growth. This method is less traumatic for the skin and is most appropriate for more sensitive people or areas.
There are many benefits to waxing versus hair removal using other methods:
- It is an efficient method for removing large amounts of hair at once.
- It is a long-lasting method.
- The waxed areas remain hairless for 2 to 8 weeks.
- When hair is trimmed with a razor or depilatory creams, only the superficial part of the hair is removed and in just a few hours it may start to be visible.
- hair in areas that are repeatedly waxed begins to grow softer and less densely.
