MALE WAXING PG answers some of the most frequently asked questions

01

Does waxing hurt?

It depends on each person’s sensitivity and how your technician performs the entire process. But it will always be a discomfort that you can handle. Different parts of your body have different levels of sensitivity. Normally, the most sensitive parts of the body are the chest, the neck and the base of the penis... oh!... and by the way, it’s worth knowing that the testicles and the anus don’t hurt. Well, that’s what we men are afraid of, right? That it hurts, but once again, we all have different reactions because each part of our body has a different resistance and reaction to stimuli. What may be uncomfortable for one person may be very well tolerated by another and most of us end up saying: “Oh, it doesn’t hurt as much as I thought!” or “It hardly hurt at all!” But, of course, it always depends on the area you’re waxing.

A tip: if you can, don't try to do everything at once. Try your back or buttocks and then your legs or arms first.

But even better... lie down... try to relax... you'll see that you'll quickly be hairless and ready to go about your life.

02

How can I reduce discomfort during waxing?

Reduce discomfort? Yes, of course! The first time you wax is when it causes the most discomfort, then it gets easier and easier.

But there are a few tips you can follow easily: take a look at our pre- and post-waxing care area.

Talk to your waxer. He or she will listen to you, advise you and use the methods best suited to your body in order to minimize any discomfort.

Above all, try to come calm, relaxed and unhurried.

With us you'll find friendliness, professionalism, time and dedicated technicians who know what they're doing and will give you their full attention.

03

What complications can arise after waxing?

The most common problems after waxing are:

REDNESS: the most common side effect. A certain level of redness or inflammation usually occurs immediately after waxing, especially on more sensitive skin. It usually disappears after a few hours. The redness appears not only because the hair is pulled but also because the skin is pulled.

BLOODY SPOTS: let's face it... you're pulling the hair out of the follicle! This procedure breaks the capillaries that irrigate the follicle. If the hair is very strong or it's your first time, it's even more common for it to bleed a little. But it's usually nothing to worry about and they're just dots of blood that dry up quickly.

BUBBLES: BUBBLES can appear after waxing and can last from 3 hours to 3 days. If you have sensitive skin, they may even stay longer. What to do? Don't panic during waxing! When you panic, your hair follicles contract and contracted hair follicles are more sensitive to damage. Try to stay calm and relaxed. This will help prevent any negative side effects, such as pimples.

ENGROVED HAIR: when hair grows into the skin, it is called ingrown hair or in medical terms “pseudofolliculitis barbae”. Shaving with a razor, waxing or blocking the pores with mineral oils or dirt are some of the causes of ingrown hairs.

What are the ways to treat ingrown hairs? Often an ingrown hair is mistaken for acne. Therapeutic treatment for ingrown hairs is not exactly a necessity.

Here are some tips:

1. exfoliation. To avoid ingrown hairs, exfoliate before shaving or before waxing. Exfoliate your skin with an exfoliation glove to help remove dead skin cells and dirt from the surface layer of the skin. This procedure reduces the risk of blocked pores and treats ingrown hairs. You can start by exfoliating 3 days after waxing and then continue regularly with the glove.

2. Apply an anti-inflammatory cream to the area with the ingrown hairs after exfoliation.

3. If an ingrown hair is infected, use an antibiotic cream. It should be applied 2-3 times a day.

04

Can anyone wax?

Waxing, on the other hand, can be performed by anyone of any age, religion or ethnicity.

However, if you are taking blood circulation medication, you should avoid waxing. These medications tend to increase the risk of tearing and tearing of the skin. You should stop taking them at least 2 to 6 months before waxing (depending on the medication).

People with diabetes, poor circulation and varicose veins should also not wax.

If you have any skin disease you should not do any type of hair removal.

Always inform your waxing technician of any treatment or illness you have, in order to avoid serious problems for you or your technician.

05

What areas of the body can I wax?

You can wax any area of your body that has hair.

06

How long does waxing last?

Usually you need to wax every 2 to 4 weeks (maximum 6 weeks). The good thing is that the more often you wax, the thinner the hair will grow and the less hair will grow.

07

How long does the hair have to be to be waxed?

For waxing to be effective, the hair must be +/- 0.5cm if it's thin and +/- 1cm if it's thick.

But don't trim... we'll do it for you!

Do I need to bring anything to a waxing session?

No. A professional has all the necessary material and equipment to carry out waxing and relaxation massages.

08

What does relaxation massage consist of?

The complete relaxation massage consists of applying relaxing massage techniques to the back, buttocks, hands, arms, neck, feet, legs and stomach.

It lasts around 1 hour.

Depending on your availability and that of your masseur, you can extend this massage by another 30 minutes.

If you prefer, you can also choose to massage just your back and/or legs. In this case it only lasts about 30 minutes.

09

Is there a method that permanently removes hair?

No, there is still no 100% effective method for permanent hair removal.
The method that best accomplishes this task is electrolysis: this method destroys the hair germ cells by introducing a probe into the hair follicle and applying an electric current.

There are, in fact, permanent hair reduction methods that promote the reduction of hair growth. This reduction can last from a few weeks to several months and over time can become permanent:
- laser (laser light is directed at the hair and absorbed by the pigments, resulting in the destruction of the hair follicle)
- pulsed light

Other methods only provide temporary hair removal at skin level (epilation) and last only a few hours or days:
- blade or cutting machine (most commonly used methods for removing hair)
- depilatory creams
- friction
These three methods are the only ones that do not involve pain or discomfort in the process.

Temporary hair removal at a deeper level (epilation) can last from a few days to several weeks and can be achieved through the following methods:
- clamp
- wax (hot or cold)
- sugar (similar to wax but with sugar paste)
- thread (also called fatlah or khite in Arabic or band in Persian)
- turmeric paste (paste made from the rhizome of the Curcuma linga plant, also known as turmeric, which is used in India)
- hair removal devices (remove hair by pulling it out of the hair follicle)
- medicines
- drugs.

What if I get an erection?

Well...first of all we are all adults and if you sought our services it is because you were looking for professional waxing and/or massage services.

Second...we are men and we understand the embarrassment, but you are not the only one nor the first and you certainly will not be the last to experience these reactions.

Furthermore, it's not exactly sexual arousal that we're all thinking about. It's more of a physical reaction that sometimes can't be avoided.

But if it does happen, what's the problem? We're not here to play with your "precious things" but to remove hair from them or massage your body and leave you feeling relaxed.

At some point, you will only focus on what you are feeling through the waxing or massage...trust me!
